BEHIND THE ARTIST
My name is Sara Evy Andersson (b. 1991), a small-town girl born and raised in Hälsingland, Sweden. My curiosity and love for creativity have been with me for as long as I can remember, whether I was painting, sculpting with clay, photographing, or designing clothes. Nothing gives me as much peace as when I enter a creative process and disconnect from the outside world for a while.
When I was 4 years old, a very rare bone disease was discovered in my left leg, which caused me to break the same leg three times before I turned twelve. As a child, I spent a lot of time in the hospital. So when I couldn’t play outside with my friends or go horse riding, I stayed inside and created my own little world. I remember when I was 8 years old, after breaking my leg for the second time, my mother bought me some clay. I spent hours each day creating little fairytale worlds filled with animals, houses, and flowers. Little did I know that this would one day be reflected in my paintings I create today.
My art has evolved through different stages throughout my life. As a child, I often drew, especially horses and dogs. Later, I began painting within expressionism, which eventually led me into abstract expressionism in 2017. Since then, my artistic journey within abstraction has deepened and grown stronger, and today it has developed into a personal style that merges abstraction with impressionism.
INSPIRATION & TECHNIQUE
I am self-taught and create without rules or guidelines. This allows me to express myself freely and let my emotions lead the way. My inspiration comes from nature, my own experiences, and the places I dream myself away to. Animals and nature have always been a big part of my life, which is reflected in my art. I am driven by the desire to create dreamlike worlds filled with beautiful encounters and coexistence between animals, nature, and people
My technique comes from an intuitive feeling. I build my works layer by layer, using acrylic paints and natural materials like stone and sand, so that each piece breathes life in color, texture, and depth. I work with brushes, palette knives and my fingers – shaping the paint and creating structure, allowing abstract landscapes to emerge. Color is always central to my work. I mix my own color palette from scratch, ensuring that every shade finds its place in a harmonious whole. As the abstract landscape begins to speak, motifs emerge – animals, architecture, flowers – bridging the abstract with impressionism. Each painting becomes a space where imagination and nature meet, and where every detail carries its own story.
VISION
I want my art to be a meeting between my inner world and yours. Through my creations, I wish to awaken emotions that remind you of memories, places, dreams, adventures, and possibilities. My hope is that each piece can become a spark of inspiration – something that makes everyday life feel a little richer, a little greater.
Love,
Sara Evy Andersson
